TOBA TEK SINGH/JHANG - As many as 19 people, including 14 children and four women, drowned when their tractor-trailer fell into Katchi Pakki Canal near Pirmahal on Friday.
Reportedly, about 45 persons of Chak 412-JB were returning from Chak 771-GB after attending the Urs of Baba Bari Sultan. When they reached near Chak 695/37 on Shorkot Road, their tractor-trailer collided with another tractor and fell into a canal. Male passengers succeeded in coming out of the canal. However, 14 children, the driver and four women drowned.
On receiving information, Rescue 1122 officials of Jhang and Toba Tek Singh reached the spot and started conducting an operation to save precious lives.
