ISLAMABAD- Commodore Asif Khaliq has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect. Rear Admiral Asif Khaliq got commission in the Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in June 1985. During his illustrious career, the Admiral held various operational and staff appointments. His operational appointments include Commands of two Destroyers and squadron command of Destroyer Squadron. He also carries the distinction of Commanding Multinational Combined Task Force 150 at Bahrain. His staff appointments include Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans) and Principal Secretary to Chief of the Naval Staff. The officer also served as Army & Naval attaché in Paris.
He graduated from Pakistan Navy War College and has also qualified Armed Forces War Course from National Defence University, Islamabad. He is the recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) which was awarded in recognition of his meritorious services,. He has also received National Order of Merit
from the Government of France.
