PESHAWAR - Leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat narrowly escaped a life attempt when unknown miscreants attacked him with a hand grenade near Chowak Nasir Khan in the limit of Kotwali Police Station, Peshawar on Thursday.
Sources said that Maulana Abdur Rahman Farooqi son of Syed Rahman Farooqi was coming to Peshawar along with his friend, when he was attacked by militants with a hand grenade in Nader Ali Street. One of the attacker pointed towards Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat leader and said, “This is the Farooqi,” and later the other one hurled a grenade on him. However, he entered a nearby house to escape the attack. The grenade attack damaged the windowpanes and doors of several houses, however, no one was injured in the incident.
Later on Station House Officer Kotawali Police Station Ihsan Marwat and Maualana Abdur Rahman Farooqi exchanged harsh words for not providing him proper security. Maulana Farooqi was of the view that miscreants succeeded to escape the scene despite presence of police personnel and station house officer. Maulana Abdur Rahman Farooqi while talking to the media told that he was repeatedly receiving threats from unknown circles and he also has informed police but despite this no proper security was provided and the resultantly this untoward incident was happened.
He said that if he were attacked in future, police and government would be responsible for the attack.
