No rift with military on any issue: Nisar

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan yesterday said there is complete understanding with military on all issues.
He criticised the ongoing debate on this issue, saying that some people are discussing day and night the civil-military relations. “Enemies want to see rift in these relations,” he added.
Addressing a press conference here at the Punjab House, he said General Raheel Sharif is saying whatever the prospective of Premier Sharif is on all issues. “General Raheel Sharif’s summary of US visit was put to PM Sharif, as it is the standing operating procedure for approval of foreign visits of all services chiefs,” clarified Nisar.  All such visits are scheduled with prior permission and these are arranged in national interest, he said.
Nisar said that he will hold a briefing on the progress of implementation of 20-point National Action Plan adopted following terrorist attack at the Army Public School Peshawar on December 16 last year. Top military commanders revealed their concern over slow pace of implementation on the NAP. He revealed that arrangements to establish a much awaited Joint Intelligence Directorate in the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) have been finalised. He also said that Finance Ministry has released a tranche of Rs1.06 billion for the body and he will make functional the NACTA within six months.
Abut Musharraf’s treason trial, Ch. Nisar said that government will make a new strategy how to run the treason trial against former army chief General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf following a verdict delivered by the Islamabad High Court last week. He said that a meeting was held on Thursday to examine the IHC judgment but the decision was delayed because federation’s attorney is out of country currently.
Replying to a question, he clarified that he did not say that some top military officials were not cooperating in the case what I said that their statements could not be recorded so far.
IHC ordered the federal government that fresh investigation be carried out against all the suspects in the treason trial, as was sought by the latter.
Talking about the Readmission agreement with EU countries, he said that this agreement was tilted against Pakistan and he will discuss this issue with a European Union’s visiting delegation on coming Monday. Nisar said that the response of the EU countries is very positive but the government will not compromise on the dignity of Pakistani citizens and will take care of their dignity and fundamental rights. He also said that a meeting would be convened with all ambassadors of EU countries to deliberate on this agreement and to make it practical. The minister explained that Pakistan had suspended an agreement on readmission of illegal immigrants with the European Union because of contradictions and irregularities in its implementation.
He said no deportee should be issued travel document without explicit approval by the Interior Ministry. Any airline bringing deportees without the ministry’s permission and Pakistani travel documents would be heavily fined, he warned. Ch. Nisar said deportation of a Pakistani on the basis of unsubstantiated charges of terrorism amounted to violation of human rights.
Nisar said that the issue registration of arms was lingering since 1970 and now the ministry is serious to register all unlicensed arms. The time for verification of arms licences are December 31 and once the deadline collapse crackdown would be conducted against those who possessed illegal arms.
Commenting on Wahga border issue, Nisar said that a Sikh citizen hit the gate at the border and this issue is being probed. As per initial investigation, Indian authorities told us that Sikh citizen was drunk.
