Parties should avoid confrontation: Imam

Former National Assembly Speaker Syed Fakhar Imam has said that the country has been grappling with multifarious and at this critical juncture, the nation could not withstand confrontation among the political parties.
He advised the government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri to avoid confrontation and find out political ways to resolve current political crisis for continuation of democracy in the country.
He expressed these views during his visit to different union councils of his electoral constituency of Kabirwala tehsil here on Monday.
“Today, we have reached a stage where our economy has crumbled, our credibility is lost, state institutions lie demoralised, provincial disharmony has caused cracks in the federation and people who were once brothers are now at each other’s throat. To sum up, we have lost our honour, dignity and respect in the comity of nations,” he regretted.
The former speaker appreciated the long term projects in the energy sector started by the government and said that these projects would be fruitful in the near future.
He expressed serious concerns about the postponement of Chinese President’s visit to Pakistan. Fakhar Imam emphasised that the country could not afford politics of protests and sit-ins as protests in Islamabad were not only damaging the country’s image but also hurting its economy.
The veteran politician said that all the political parties should avoid going to the point of no return, adding that all and sundry should strive for cordial atmosphere to rebuild Pakistan and ensure its security and sovereignty. Fakhar Imam said that democracy was the only solution to development and harmony.
Earlier, he condoled with Haji Mohammad, of Noor sweet, Mohammad Ramzan Gujjar, Mohammad Nawaz kamlanah 15- D,  Liaqat Baloch, Abdul Sargana, 12-D Mazhar Hussain Kathia, in 23-Ghahg Mohammad Shafiq Kudhan, Mohammad Iqbal’, on the death of  their relatives and prays for the departed souls.
