Pemra ban on Indian content comes into effect

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Friday completely banned Indian content.

According to Pemra, the licence of any television channel or radio that violates the ban will be immediately cancelled.

The unilateral concession given to India in this regard during the Musharraf government has been cancelled.

Pemra Chairman Absar Alam said no television channel or FM radio will be able to broadcast Indian content in the country.

Pemra teams also conducted raids in Gilgit and ceased illegal equipment from eleven distributors and cable operators.
