ISLAMABAD The Supreme Court on Monday suspended the city magistrate of Islamabad, besides issuing a contempt of court notice to a shopkeeper of F-8 Markaz for not implementing the courts orders. A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Ghulam Rabbani was hearing a matter related to ejection of a tenant from the shop. The court directed the Commissioner Islamabad that Magistrate Farrukh Nadeem should not be allowed to use the magistracy powers. Fouzia Mehmood, a complainant, through her counsel Kokab Iqbal informed the court that she had a shop in Sector F-8 Markaz and the tenant instead of vacating the shop had demanded Rs1.4 million. She said despite the court orders, the tenant Sabtain was not vacating the shop. She further said that Magistrate Farrukh Nadeem whom the court had directed to get the shop vacated instead of following the court order asked for Rs0.5 million as a bribe. The chief justice asked Farrukh Nadeem, You do not deserve to be a magistrate that instead of implementing the court orders, you are demanding bribe. The chief justice said that besides the orders of rent controller, high court and Supreme Court, you have delayed the process to vacate the shop. The court observed that warrants of ejection were delayed for one or the other reason and thus court orders were flouted. The court granted seven days to Sabtain and Farrukh Nadeem to submit written reply and adjourned the hearing.
