Punjab Assembly resolution pays tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces

LAHORE: Resolutions submitted in Punjab Assembly today paid tribute to General Raheel Sharif’s statement regarding corruption and the army’s successful operation against Chotu Gang.

A resolution was submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) MPA Khadija Umar which stated that the act of self-accountability initiated by General Raheel Sharif should be implemented in all institutions of Pakistan.

The resolution also stated that the whole nation stood behind General Raheel for eliminating corruption from the country. It also called for ending corruption from the country so that Pakistan could emerge as a force to be reckoned with at the international stage.

PTI’s Mehmood-ur-Rasheed also submitted a resolution in the assembly to pay tribute to police, rangers and army officials for their successful operation against Chotu Gang. The resolution called for Chotu to be probed and the results of the interrogation be shared with the nation.

The resolution also stated that facilitators of Chotu Gang should be exposed as well as those who had provided patronage to the gang and hand them befitting punishments.

General Raheel Sharif had dismissed eleven serving army officers on charges of corruption. The move was an unprecedented one and was hailed.
