PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested Kaleem Ullah, Assistant Executive Engineer (Pak PWD) Batkhela on charges of embezzling Rs290 million in water supply schemes of Swat district.As per details, Pak PWD Batkhela Office, as a Project Civil Division, was established in 2009 and till date has executed development projects worth billions of rupees in Malakand Division. The projects consist of construction of PCC roads, bridges, water supply schemes, Katcha Road in NA-30 Tehsil Matta, Tehsil Khawazakhela, UC Shalpeen, UC Biha upper Swat. The officer of Pak PWD Batkhela Office committed grave financial irregularities and embezzlement in the public funds released for the above-mentioned developmental works.Consequently, a complaint has been lodged with the NAB against the accused. The Competent Authority in NAB taking cognisance of the matter authorised the inquiry into the matter.During physical check of sites in NA-30, gross irregularities were detected in entries of these measurements books and also ghosts, substandard and incomplete schemes for which complete payments had been made to the contractors with the connivance of Pak PWD Officers were found.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
