ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday ruled out the use of force against the participants of long marches and reiterated to resolve the matter through dialogue.
Talking to senior journalists and anchorpersons here at the PM House, he said the government even could not think about using force against the protestors as women and children were also among them.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rasheed and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui were also present on the occasion.
Responding to a question, the Prime Minister made it clear that the government could not be blackmailed by bringing 10,000 to 15,000 people outside the Parliament House.
He said the government was ready for dialogue and was still committed for it to defuse the crisis.
The Prime Minister said the country could not afford the current situation as the crisis could harm the country.
He said that 11 out of 12 political parties present in the National Assembly on Thursday adopted a resolution in support of democracy, constitution and the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said all political forces were on the same page and the government would fully respect the mandate of the people.
He said the democratic system would not be let derailed and that by accepting the demand of resignation he did not want to bring another crisis in the country.
The Prime Minister said the whole election could not be audited under the law as well as the constitution.
He said people had pinned some hopes with Imran Khan and TahirulQadri but media had exposed their real faces to the people.
He said for the first time in the country's history, all democratic forces had agreed to protect the constitution and the democracy.
Nawaz Sharif said the people had given him mandate in 2013 elections and he had assumed the office of prime minister as a challenge.
He said he had also fulfilled his commitment of not doing the politics of 90s, as neither anyone was implicated falsely nor no one's mandate was stolen.
He said despite the reservations of one of its allies, the PMLN allowed Pakistan TehreekeInsaf to form the government in KPK province respecting its mandate and the democratic traditions.
The Prime Minister said that the government did not intervene in the provincial matters adding that the PMLN allowed the election of a chief minister from a nationalist party in Balochistan despite having the required number to form its own government in the larger interest of the country and province.
PM MEETS PRESIDENT MAMNOON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain for 45 minutes at the President House Thursday and briefed him on the prevailing political situation in the country.
Prime Minister Sharif took the President into confidence over current political crisis created by the PTI and PAT long marches in Islamabad. Both leaders were on the same page to tackle the situation in accordance with law and constitution.
President Mamnoon showed satisfaction that all the decisions shall be taken according to the law and constitution and hoped that the nation and all the political parties work for the progress and prosperity of the country.
