ISLAMABAD - Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday castigated New Delhi for violence and ceasefire breaches along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary which shows India’s ill-intentions towards Pakistan.
Addressing the concluding session of conference ‘Ideas Conclave 2015’ here at a local hotel, Sartaj Aziz condemned the incidents of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary and said these violent acts show Indian nefarious designs towards Pakistan.
The Prime Minister’s Adviser said that efforts by India towards unilaterally altering the status of Kashmir would further compound an already complicated situation between the two countries.
“Unprovoked and indiscriminate firing and shelling from across the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, with Indian leadership threatening disproportionate use of force, reveal India’s dangerous desire to create a space for war,” he added.
Sartaj said that this behaviour also reveals a clear dichotomy in India’s insistence on eliminating terrorism on the one hand and creating distractions for Pakistan’s Armed Forces engaged in a relentless and non-discriminatory counter-terrorism operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’.
He expressed concern over New Delhi’s defence spending and said India is “accentuating the conventional asymmetry and seriously impacting regional stability”. He reiterated Pakistan’s desire for a meaningful, sustained and result-oriented dialogue with India to resolve all the outstanding issues.
However, he said India suspended Secretary-level talks with Pakistan, and now its New Delhi’s turn to resume the stalled dialogue process with Islamabad for the resolution of bilateral issues.
The Adviser said that building peaceful and friendly relations with all the neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
He said that Pakistan supports an inclusive Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process, which is vital for achieving long-term peace, stability and progress in Afghanistan.
He said that the rise of non-State actors like the Islamic State (IS) has changed the global threat matrix and is beginning to imperil the stability of many States and societies including in this region.
He said that terrorism, climate change, economic interdependence, regional integration, and a shrinking globe, are all facets of the infinitely complex world that we are destined to grapple with.
In his address, former Foreign Secretary Najmuddin Shaikh observed that Pakistan and Afghanistan need to work together to deal with common threats like terrorism and extremism.
Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Janan Mosazai reiterated his government’s resolve that Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan and any other neighbouring country.

INP from London adds: Member of the British House of Lords Lord Nazir Ahmad has said that Indian intelligence agencies are training terrorists in Afghanistan for carrying out terror activities in Pakistan.
Addressing participants of a ceremony on the occasion of Chehlum of Peshawar APS martyrs in east London, Lord Nazir said t Pakistan army is combating militants to eliminate terrorisms from the region through Zarb-e-Azb operation but neighbouring country India is providing weapons and support to terrorists.
He condemned blasphemous caricatures published in French weekly satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and said Muslims living across the Europe are being targeted by discriminatory attitude under the pretext of freedom of expression.
Lord Nazir called upon the Muslims living in Britain not to vote in next elections to those political parties who are acting as biased to Muslims.
