ISLAMABAD-Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt Gen. Retired Abdul Qadir Baloch has said that so far around one million Internally Displaced Persons have been registered and the process of verification and cash payment through mobile SIMs is underway.
Speaking at a meeting of the International NGOs and UN relief agencies in Islamabad on Monday, he said that over sixty one thousand mobile SIMs have been issued for disbursement of financial assistance to IDPs.
The minister briefed the representatives of international NGOs and UN donor agencies about the current situation of IDPs and the relief provided to them.
The meeting discussed various measures for the rehabilitation of IDPs and reconstruction of infrastructure in the affected areas.
