Govt to block Afghan SIMs

ISLAMABAD - On the request of the law-enforcement agencies, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed Pakistan Telecom Authority to discontinue roaming facilities on Afghanistan SIMs to block anti-state and criminal activities of terrorists in Pakistan.
The prime minister said this task should be completed in next couple of days. This act will impede communication of terrorists with one another and reduce crimes related to kidnappings for ransom.
The prime minister has asked Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to implement his orders within two days.
Terrorists won’t be able to freely communicate with one another after the closure of roaming facility. The step will also help curb other crimes, including kidnappings for ransom and money extortion.
It would help block communication of terrorists with one another across the Pak-Afghan border, the orders issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said.
