ISLAMABAD - Cops of Islamabad police witnessed a gruesome murder took place inside a police picket as they ran away from the scene, leaving bleeding poor woman alone in Bhaika Sayydan within the limits of Shalimar Police Station. Eyewitness on condition of anonymity told this newspaper that a lady Sughran Bibi, a resident of Norowal married with Shah Rasool out of her clan after the death of her first husband and moved to Bhaika Sayydan, a residential colony situated in the middle of posh Sector F-11. The children including three sons and four daughters from her previous marriage did not approve her action and threatened her of dire consequences. At the time of prayers on Friday afternoon her eldest son identified as Babar entered her quarter and yelled, I will kill you. Sensing the gravity of situation she ran towards a police picket, established in a room of private house, while crying for help, the eyewitness added. Moreover, eyewitness said the young man (Babar) entered the picket behind her, pulled the gun and shot her head in the presence of four cops of Islamabad police and walked away to a waiting car standing few yards away from the scene. The cops ran away from the scene without providing any assistance to the poor lady and deliberatively did not arrest the killer due to the fear that they will be the victims of killers anger. Another eyewitnesses told this scribe that cops also hurriedly removed signboard from the picket and threw out the chairs they were using to relax. A few minutes later they returned to their post and tried to cover blood stained on the floor with dust. The victims present husband had gone for Friday prayers at that time; otherwise he could have met the same fate. Other residents while talking to TheNation said how ironic it is that the police deployed to protect the citizens failed to protect the life of the lady but actually ran away from the scene of the crime and cowardly tried to destroy the proof of the murder. Observers were of the views that the citizens have right to ask about the performance of Islamabad cops and wonder how their lives are safe with this kind of stuff. Police high ups are requested to look into this case with open mind and get rid of such staff, which is totally inefficient, coward and corrupt. When this scribe contacted Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani for comments, he said that the victim woman had one step inside and one step outside the community centre when her son Babar targeted her. To a question, he said through a beat system nine policemen had deployed in the said centre, however at the time of crime happening only one policeman was there to handle the wireless communication. The rest of the cops were on patrolling. Detectives will arrest the culprit very soon, the IGP assured.
