Govt claims edu policies bearing fruit

BAHAWALPUR
Minister of State for Education Muhammad Baleeghur Rehman has said that the credit of equipping the national youth with information technology to compete with the modern world goes to the PML-N government.
The youth are also being facilitated with scholarships as academic development is the guarantee of bright future of the country, he said during a laptop distribution ceremony held under the Higher Education Commission at Islamia University of Bahawalpur where 305 laptops were distributed to MPhil/PhD scholars. He said that for the first time ever, a huge amount of Rs860 million was granted to IUB for academic development.
Dr Muhammad Afzal Khan, the vice chancellor thanked the federal government and the HEC for facilitating the IUB students. He said that in the light of the directive of the PM, laptops were being provided to students of all the four provinces. It is a matter of pride that the research articles published in international journals had reached to a record numbers of 8,000 per year, which will prove the academic sector, he said.
PROJECT COMPLETION ORDERED: Adviser to CM Punjab Muhammad Afzal Khokar said that the Cattle Market Management Company Bahawalpur be made functional soon so that it would become convenient for the people to get healthy cattle.
Addressing a meeting at Bahawalpur Commissioner Office, he said that funds for the company would be provided soon. He added that work needed be done to make the important department successful and eliminate the role of middle men in the cattle market. He said that in the cattle market, all the facilities be provided and the work be completed with complete transparency.
Commissioner Javed Akbar said that work be done to better the performance of the company so that people involved in cattle business could take benefits from it. He presented suggestions to make the department more effective.
Earlier, Cattle Market Management Company Managing Director Dr Muhammad Sohail said that in Bahawalpur Division, there are 11 cattle markets out of which Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts have four markets each while Bahawalnagar has three markets.
He said that appointments of the Cattle Market Management Company staff and officials will be completed soon and to make the department more effective steps were being taken. The officialdom then visited Model Bazaar Bahawalpur and monitored several stalls. The MNA said that sanitation system be improved besides sale of fruit, vegetables and other products at the fixed prices.
