PESHAWAR - The government has finalised preparations to transfer the high profile prisoners from various jails of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to Mardan high security jail.
The prisoners that will be shifted to the high security jail included Dr. Shakeel Afridi and Niaz Muhammad.
Dr Shakeel Afridi who had allegedly helped the CIA by running a fake vaccination campaign in Abbottabad to trace al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in 2011, will be transferred to high security prison from Peshawar Central Jail. Niaz Muhammad, a terrorist involved in an attack on former President Pervez Musharraf, will be transferred to Mardan high security jail from Haripur. Moreover, Maulana Sufi Muhammad of banned Nafaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi and prisoners of militant groups Lashkar-i-Islam, Swat Taliban and Mohmand Taliban will be transferred to the high security jail in Mardan, which is bomb-proof and has been built on modern lines. According to sources, Dr. Shakil alongwith other 21 prisoners are likely to be taken to Mardan jail soon where they would be imprisoned in high security cell.
