Reconciliation policy promoting democracy, says minister

PESHAWAR- Minister of State for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Malik Azmat Khan on Sunday said the Pakistan Peoples’ Party will continue politics of reconciliation with an objective to promote political tolerance , strengthen democracy and democratic institutions as it was the only way forward to take the country out of existing challenges.
“The politics of reconciliation, introduced by PPP in line with vision of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, had evolved a new culture in the country’s political arena that would greatly help promote political tolerance and ensure respect to the mandate of others political forces,” he said while addressing party convention at Timergara rest house and Munda in Dir Lower district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said politics of reconciliation was the hallmark of PPP that helped addressed all major challenges like 7th NFC award, restoration of 1973 constitution, giving identity to Pakthoons by renaming NWFP as Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Fata and Gilgit Baltistan reforms, 18th, 19th, 20th amendments, appointment of consensus Chief Election Commissioner and Balochistan package.
“We strongly believed in politics of reconciliation and had taken all the political forces and coalition partners on board on major issues of national importance, which yielded very positive results,” he maintained.
He said PPP would take all coalition partners on board in formation of next government if voted to power again, adding people would re elect PPP candidates on the basis of performance, continuity of policies and completion of ongoing mega projects.
He said PPP is the most popular political party of the country and has strong roots in masses in all four federating units, Gilgit Baltistan and AJK.
He said gas facility would be provided to entire Dir Lower besides installation of transformers at Maidan, Jandol, Talash, Mandara and Timergara that would help address low voltage problems.
On this occasion, he announced scores of development water and sanitation, communication schemes for Balambut, Khogi and Timergarah union councils.
On this occasion, the participants expressed full confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Minister of State for Inter Provincial Cordination, Malik Azmat Khan and assured full support.
The workers on this occasion raised slogans of Jaye Bhutto.
