ISLAMABAD - The Ministry of Water and Power yesterday instructed all distribution companies (Discos) to make necessary arrangements for smooth power supply to Majalis and processions on 9th and 10th of Muharramul Haram.
All the Discos have been asked to ensure safety of their installations on various routes of processions and assign duties to special teams for quick response in case of any requirement.
Discos have been asked to put complaint cells on high alert on both days, and senior officers should monitor control rooms.
The Discos have also been instructed to maintain close liaison with district/local administration for better performance of the duties by their operational staff at the district/local levels.
All the chief executive officers (CEOs) of the distribution companies have been directed to ensure compliance of the instructions and send a report for readiness of the arrangements before the start of Muharramul Haram.
It is pertinent to mention that many distribution companies including IESCO have no complaint cell and the monitoring related activities mostly exit on papers only.
The complaint cell, established in Ministry of Water and Power, accommodate consumers, if approached through some influential officer.Iesco officials claim that soon they will establish a proper complaint cell.
