HAFIZABAD
The body of a middle-aged woman was found floating in the canal near Chak Chatha, and fished out by Rescue-1122 and shifted to DHQ Hospital.
The body has not yet been identified. It is presumed that the unidentified accused had killed her and thrown the body into the canal to conceal his offence.
Meanwhile, Nauman, 14, of Mohallah Tajpura Hafizabad was crushed under the wheels of a recklessly driven tractor-trolley near Madina Colony.
He was rushed to DHQ hospital from where he was referred to a Lahore hospital due to lack of facilities in the Trauma Centre.
It has been officially made “functional” by the district administration few days ago.
The police have arrested tractor driver Waheed.
SERVICE LAUNCHED: Rescue service for the inoculation of livestock at the doorsteps of cattle owners in the remote areas has been launched, Director Livestock (small holders) Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Gill said here.
He distributed motorcycles among the field staff of the department for improving their performance as well as for better look after of the cattle by providing on-the-spot medicines.
He expressed his hope that the cattle owners would avail the facilities being provided by the department, minimise the diseases among the cattle and promote breeding of livestocks.
District Officer Livestock Dr. Muhammad Akhtar told the visiting director that 11,45,000 cattle were inoculated while 3,50,000 cattle were treated by the department during the current year.
