Multan- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly decided to boycott by-elections in National Assembly constituency, NA-149 Multan II, vacated by its disgruntled president Javed Hashmi.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set Oct 16 as the election date. Hashmi had vacated the seat by quitting his National Assembly membership earlier this month. According to sources, Imran Khan’s PTI is contemplating to boycott the votes; however, no formal decision has so far been announced. PTI’s Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed that his party would not field any candidate in the constituency, saying that party leaders will make a final decision. After Islamabad and Karachi, Qureshi said, a protest sit-in will also be staged in Multan.
