PTI MPA joins PSP

KARACHI - After causing several blows to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and taking several of its office-bearers into its fold, Mustafa Kamal`s PSP on Friday turned towards the PTI and convinced its provincial lawmaker Syed Hafeezuddin to join the newly-formed party.
Four MQM MPAs – Iftikhar Alam, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Bilquis Mukhtar and Ashfaq Mangi – have already joined the PSP, whereas this is the first time a sitting lawmaker of a political party, other than the MQM, has joined the former Karachi mayor’s party.
PTI lawmaker Hafeezuddin was elected from PS-93 in General Elections 2013. He announced to quit the PTI and resign from the Sindh Assembly membership during a press conference along with Mustafa Kamal, Anis Qaimkhani and other party leaders. Hafeezuddin in the first instant targeted the PTI chairman stating that Imran Khan has no experience in politics. “I joined the PTI thinking that it would bring a possible change in the country but Imran Khan, who remained surrounded by the unproven leaders, failed to do so,” said Hafeezuddin.
Talking about the PTI role in the Sindh Assembly, Hafeezuddin was of the views that the opposition did not have an effective leadership and was not playing its due roll in the House. He said that immature politics of the PTI forced him to leave the party. He said he has decided to join the Mustafa Kamal`s party as the former Karachi Mayor has done Phd in mayor-ship. Welcoming the Hafeezuddin’s arrival, Kamal said that he did not launch the party to create rifts or divide the people.
“We only seek unity and even asking our opponents to stay firm in their political believes.” On the other side, PTI leader Ali Zaidi said that Hafeezuddin was afraid of getting kicked out of the party, so he opted for another party. He further alleged that Hafeez was involved in corruption and party chairman Imran Khan has already approved his termination.
