ISLAMABAD - A woman police officer’s prompt action saved the life of an 11-year-old unstable Christian girl when more than 500 mobsters attempted to burn her alive over the charges of blasphemy, sources said.Officials and eyewitnesses told TheNation that the mob attempted to burn her alive when ASP Irum Abbasi led a Ramna police team to the site and escorted her to the police station on Saturday.“Fact is that the mob was about to burn the girl alive but the police team did a great job,” an official said on the condition of anonymity. “The girl has been sent to a juvenile jail on 14-day judicial remand,” the official added.Villagers of Ummar Jaffar accused the 11-year-old of blasphemy and attempted to burn her. The complainant, Muhammad Ummad, registered an FIR with the Ramna police on August 16, accusing her of desecration. The attack on girl triggered panic among Christians in Pakistan. Reportedly, more than 2,300 Christians left their homes and had gone into hiding.
