Prolonged power, gas outages irk citizens



HAFIZABAD - Gepco has started prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding crippling business activities in the district.
The two to three hours loadshedding was irritating the businessmen including shopkeepers who are already on the verge of liquidation. Water supply also remained disrupted due to the power supply cuts. In addition, gas pressure is also absolutely low whereupon housewives were facing a lot of inconvenience and hardships in preparing meals for their family.
Social and commercial organisations particularly Housewives Association have called upon the government to ensure uninterrupted power and gas supplies a least during the winter season.
Rally protests Wapda privatisation: On the call of the Pakistan Hydro Electric Labour Union, the Gepco workers took out a protest rally against the proposed privatisation of Wapda.
The rally was led by Union Chairman Abdul Razzaq Mughal and General Secretary Shafqat Mahmood. Carrying placards inscribed with anti-government material, they were also chanting slogans against the government.
They said that the workers would not tolerate the privatisation. Later, the participants of the rally proceeded to Islamabad to participate in the rally there.
