QUETTA – A special force comprising more than 300 personnel has been formed in Balochistan to curb incidents of kidnapping for ransom, target killing and other crimes, said provincial Home Secretary Captain (r) Akbar Hussain Durrani here on Tuesday.
Talking to divisional commissioners of Balochistan on the occasion of handing over vehicles for Levies Force, the home secretary said that government was ready to cope with incidents of terrorism and other challenges. Apart from giving a free hand to police and Levies Force they were also being provided with all necessary facilities.
“Formation of special force will help curb incidents of terrorism, target killing and kidnapping for ransom incidents,” Durrani said, adding that stern action would be taken against these elements and their heads at any cost.
He said that building trust of people on law enforcement agencies was government’s top priority adding that it would be possible when agencies would demonstrate better performance in maintaining law and order.
“Nobody is above the law and those who violate law cannot escape from it,” he said.
Home Secretary said that police, Frontier Corps and Levies had been issued special directives that they should not cede before any political pressure and perform their duties freely.
He said investigation procedure in Levies Force would be enhanced and all training centres of Levies in divisions would be made functional.
“Police and Levies are being equipped with technology and modern weapons so that they could fight terrorists and anti-social elements which are more trained and well-equipped with technology,” he added.
