Health facility runs sans docs, drugs

The single healthcare facility for about 35,000 people of Tibba Galianwala Chak 71/4R in Haroonabad is in a shambles due to the apathetic attitude of health officials. Former member of District Council Bahawalnagar Rao Inamur Rehman got established a dispensary for the people of the area. But due to departmental negligence, the health facility has turned into a 'ghost bungalow'. The sanitation condition of area where the dispensary is located is very poor and patients face difficulties because of the poor sanitation condition. The dispensary set up in a three-room building is running without medicines, electricity, water, equipments and a qualified physician. An unqualified dispenser and class-iv servant run the affairs of the health facility, while a dispenser visits there only three days a week. People of the area staged demo against the sorry state of affairs of the dispensary. Muhammad Sadiq, Manzoor Ahmad, Jalaluddin, Allah Ditta, Samiullah etc held the health high-ups responsible for the poor condition of the facility.They demanded early appointment of a qualified doctor at the dispensary, provision of medicines and repair work of the building. When asked about the sorry state of affairs of the dispensary, District Health Officer Dr Aslam Pervez said that it was not in his notice and pledged to look into the issue. EMPLOYEES OBSERVE STRIKE: In response to a call of the All Pakistan Clerks Association, all the government offices remained closed down and the employees went on strike in Bahawalpur Division against the government for further pay raise.They demanded that the federal government should immediately raise their salaries according to the inflation rate. A protest rally taken out there was led by Apca Divisional President Ateequr Rehman. Provincial Vice President Abdul Razzaq Ramay addressing the protesters demanded that the government should fulfil their demand.Vice President Muhammad Sadiq said that the Punjab government had always dealt with the employees discriminately. The government has intentionally done injustice with the employees and forced 3 million employees to sit on roads in spite of their offices. All the employees protested for hours at Farid Gate Bahawalpur barefooted. Ateequr said that employees will protest responding to every order of the Apca which what he said, was a nationwide organisation of employees.SWOOP ON ENCROACHERS: The Cantonment Board Bahawalpur initiated a grand operation against encroachments in Model Town block A's residential and commercial areas. The residents should eliminate encroachments voluntarily and extend cooperation to the Cantonment Board.Cantonment Board Bahawalpur CEO Raja Asad Aylia expressed these thoughts while talking to the media during the operation against encroachments here the other day.He was of the view that encroachments damaged beauty of any area and residents of Model Town A Block should construct water lines in front of their houses for the outward flow of water so that roads can be saved from damage, adding that legal action would be taken against all such residents and they would be fined for violating law in this regard.He said that operation against encroachments would be carried out without any discrimination.According to the cantonment board in Model Town A's Aziz Bhatti Road, Abbasi Road, Poultry Farm Gulberg Road, operation against encroachment is in progress while in commercial areas including Muhammad Bin Qasim Road to Dubai Chowk operation was start on Thursday.
