Shortfall hits 6500MW





LAHORE  - The power shortfall on Tuesday surged to 6,500mw, sparking breakdowns in the country up 14 hours.
Urban areas of the country have been facing up to 10-hour loadshedding while the urban ones are experiencing up to 14  hours with out electricity, adding to public woes.
According to Energy Management Committee (EMC), the shortfall recorded in May 2011 was 4500mw but in May 2012, it has reached 6500MW.
Power generation through hydel was recorded 3,559MW out of which Karachi was being supplied 720MW.
The Energy Management Committee claimed reduction in load shedding after addition of power into the national grid system.
People have been making a litany of complaints to the authorities concern to mount up their endeavours to overcome energy crisis but they are dragging their feet over the matter.
