LAKKI MARWAT – The district administration has imposed a ban on motorbike pillion riding and display of weapons in the limits of Lakki city till 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram.
An official said on Thursday that DCO Nisar Ahmad issued two separate notifications to this effect aiming to avoid happening of any untoward incident during the month of Muharram. “The bike riders will not be permitted to enter the routes of mourners’ processions till 10th of Muharram”, he told.
He said that local police would plug all streets and thoroughfares leading to the routes of processions today. “Besides there will be complete ban on display of weapons”, he maintained.
Meanwhile, DCO Nisar Ahmad along with DPO Muhammad Idrees Khan and other officials paid a visit to the parts of urban locality and inspected deployment of LEAs personnel on the routes of mourners’ processions.
SDPO Lakki Bashar Khan briefed him on security arrangements and deployments of cops in and around processions’ routes and at nakabandi points.
The DCO met members of peace committee and elders of Shia community and called upon them to keep a close liaison with local administration and police for ensuring sustainable peace and harmony during the holy month. He directed the bigwigs of tehsil municipal administration to improve cleanliness situation and street lighting system in the urban locality especially in areas from where mourners’ processions would pass.
He reiterated that the district administration would provide foolproof security to mourners and would ensure observance of 10th of Muharram with peace and religious harmony in the district.
Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer, Nisar Ahmad administered polio vaccines to children of unwilling parents during his visit to several urban and rural localities of Lakki on Thursday.
Along with EDO health Dr Abdul Ghaffar Wazir and Assistant Director Local Government and Rural Development Syed Khalid Israr Shah he went to Michenkhel, Saeedkhel, Khoidadkhel, Totiabad and Gul Waliabad localities of Lakki city and parts of Begukhel union council and meet parents who had showed unwillingness to immunize their children against the crippling disease.
He told parents that their unwillingness could cause lifelong paralyse to their children under the age of five years.
“The health of your kids is in your own hands and you can safeguard them from crippling disease by administering them with oral polio vaccine in each round”, he maintained.
Parents and elders assured on the occasion that they would not believe on hearsays and misconceptions about anti polio drops and would cooperate with polio teams in future.
