Dir teacher runs over students; three dead

PESHAWAR - At least three students of a higher secondary school were killed and 10 others sustained injuries when a car of their schoolteacher ran over them after assembly session in Lower Dir on Saturday morning.
Eyewitnesses and police said dozens of students of the Higher Secondary School Mayar were on their way to classes after holding their morning assembly session, when suddenly a science teacher, namely Salim Jan, of the same school drove fast his car inside the school and ran over the students, apparently losing control of the vehicle.
Resultantly, three students were killed. Two of them were identified as Abdul Basit of class 10th and Samiullah, class 9th. Ten others, including a sweeper of the school were injured. The injured included Imdadullah, Shaukat Ali, Sultan Muhammad, Hayat ur Rahman, Attaullah and Majid of class 10th, Awais Khan, Muhammad Shah and Syed Kamal of class 9th, Kamran Hassan of class 6th and sweeper Muhammad Saeed.
The injured were rushed to Mayar and Timergara hospitals from where four students Imdadullah, Sultan Muhammad, Awais Khan and Hidayatur Rahman were shifted to Peshawar due to their critical condition. All the students belonged to Mayar village of Jandol area.
In order to probe the incident, District Education Officer (DEO) Dr Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim has constituted a three-member committee to be headed by ADO Ali Haider. Police have arrested the teacher and further investigation was underway in this regard.
CLASH LEAVES THREE VOLUNTEERS DEAD
INP adds: At least three volunteers of Aman Committee were killed in a fierce battle against extremists in Khyber Agency on Saturday.
A fierce clash occurred between Aman committee and extremists in Tirah Valley of the agency which resulted in the death of three Aman volunteers. The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed so far.
