JUI fails to woo JI back into MMA

As expected, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman failed to woo Jamaat-i-Islami back to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and a meeting of the heads of various parties held here last week decided to revive MMA sans JI. Another faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam led by Maulana Samiul Haq also stayed away. The absence of the two parties from the alliance has belittled its significance, as without the active support of JI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman could not bring some massive upsets in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and elsewhere. JI Amir Munawar Hassan is in no mood to jump into alliance. The party is weighing options and is most likely to prefer to make seat adjustments with other political parties. The party is not thinking of making electoral alliance with a single party. According to knowledgeable sources, people in the revived MMA are not much optimistic about the performance of the religious alliance.  However, the MMA would definitely be affecting the results of the elections on the seats mainly in Punjab.
