ISLAMABAD- Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of killing of eight Hazara community members in Quetta.
Vehemently condemning the incident, the PM directed authorities to ensure security of Hazara community as well as law-and-order situation in Quetta city. He asked the interior secretary to coordinate different law enforcement agencies to speed up the arrest of killers of eight people in Quetta.
He said a report should be presented to him after the arrest of culprits. The PM also sought report of probable lapse in the security that led to the killing.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik, also took notice and ordered provincial authorities to further tighten the security measures. Meanwhile, Shia organizations – Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) and Shia Ulema Council – announced three-day mourning against the killings.
Earlier today, gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying Hazara community members in Hazar Ganji area on the outskirts of Quetta, killing eight of them, just days ahead of the holy month of Muharram.
