ISLAMABAD - A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions for the authorities to restrain Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) from holding sit-in in the federal capital. Filing the petition, Tariq Asad prayed the apex court to restrain PTI from holding protest rally on November 2 as it will badly disturb public peace and security of Pakistan. He further prayed the court to fix the case on 25-10-2016 or any other date in the week commencing from 24-10-2016.
He said Imran Khan has filed a petition against Prime Minister and others, which is fixed on 01-11-2016 while the PTI chairman has also announced sit-in on November 2.
He said the previous sit-in of the PTI lasted for 128 days and it infringed the fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed by inter alia Articles 4, 9, 14, 15 and 18 of the Constitution.
This time, the petitioner said, the PTI chief has announced to lockdown Islamabad and also asked his supporters to make arrangements of foods, beds and blankets for stay of an indefinite period until Nawaz Sharif resigns. Tariq said the residents of Islamabad are worried and asking to know what is their fault for making their lives miserable.
He said in case the court does not take up petition prior to 02-11-2016, Islamabad would be closed, the residents would suffer an irreparable loss and their fundamental rights would also be infringed.
