PESHAWAR  - At least 23 militants were killed when jet fighters of the Pakistan Air Force pounded hideouts of militants in the border areas of North Waziristan Agency on Monday.
According to ISPR, targeted aerial raids were carried out in Bandigar village of Ghulam Khan, a border area of North Waziristan. The targeted action of security forces killed 23 militants while several others were reported injured.
Before launching air assault in Ghulam Khan, the army has successfully cleared the areas of Miranshah, Mirali, Boya, Degan and Dattakhel in the ongoing military offensive.  Moreover, militant hideouts have also been destroyed in these areas of North Waziristan.  The ISPR had confidential information that the terrorists fleeing from the region were taking refuge in Bandigar and other neighboring areas. On the basis of the information, the PAF carried out airstrikes.
The Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched in North Waziristan against the militants on June 15.  The army spokesmen claim more than 1,000 militants have been killed so far and the operation continues successfully.  Ghulama Khan area is one of border regions near Afghanistan where security forces are facing stiff resistance from militants. However, the army is using gunship helicopters and jet fighters to counter militants.
