International Day of Peace observed

SANGLA HILL - In accordance with the declaration of the United Nations to celebrate International Day of Peace on September 21, many programs were organized by various organizations to mark the day in a befitting manner.
In this connection, Anjuman Tehreek-e-Niswan organised a seminar on the topic, ‘Sustainable peace for sustainable future’ at the Institute of Professional Studies here the other day. Addressing the participants, Lawyers Alliance President Arslan Idrees Chattha said that young people must be educated about peace, tolerance, non-violence, conflict avoidance and the history of conflicts in Pakistan.
The participants were very motivated to play their role as “Agents of Peace” in the country’ they developed a plan of action for a movement to combat extremism and terrorism in the country.
Senior Journalist Muhammad Iqbal Sheikh said that, “Pakistan is a peace-loving country and we as members of different organizations are advancing our role in promoting peace.” He also called upon the extremists and terrorists that they should renounce violence as their narrative was self-defeating and had no role in the development of human civilisation because of being based upon narrow-mindedness and defying tolerance, pluralism and co-existence.
Speaking on the occasion, Anjuman Tehreek-e-Niswan Chairperson Mohterma Kiran Shehzadi said that the international community should focus on the conflict resolution rather their management for the sake of world peace as progress, prosperity and development of human civilisation hinges on in an atmosphere of peaceful co-existence.
