Special security arrangements in place for Easter

ISLAMABAD - Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani has lauded the role of Christian cops of Islamabad Police for maintaining peace and security in the Federal Capital. IGP was addressing Easter ceremony here on Saturday held at Islamabad Police Headquarters. Christian employees of capital cops were especially invited at the ceremony. DIG HQ Ahmed Mukaram, SSP Headquarters Zubair Ahmad Hashmi, DSP HQ Ashraf Ali Shah and other police officials also attended the ceremony. On the occasion, the IGP lauded the contribution of cops, saying that minorities including Christian community are contributing significantly in capital cops progress and in fact, have been assigned very important duties in the department as a part of effective policing. We are with you on this occasion and your duties are acknowledged, the IGP said. He said there is need to promote interfaith harmony. Minorities role is greatly acknowledged in the development of the country as they are accomplishing various assignments with great responsibility, the IGP added. THE IGP on the occasion also presented the gifts to the Christian employees and also gave them cheques. Meanwhile, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan has said that foolproof security arrangements have bee also made at Easter and special checking and deployment would be made at churches. He said security of the public places including parks has been made more effective. He said that extra deployment has been made at all religious places of Christians and intensive patrolling will be conducted across Islamabad in this regard. The SSP added that police commandos equipped with sophisticated weapons and wireless sets would be deployed outside the churches, he said, adding police personnel in plainclothes will also be deployed with sniffer dogs outside the churches.
