Nawaz has to go: Imran

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will have to leave the Prime Minister’s Office as the Panama Papers have unveiled his and his family’s offshore wealth.

Addressing a large rally in Islamabad’s F-9 Park to mark PTI’s 20th foundation day he said “Mian Sahib you will have to leave. We are launching a countrywide movement against corruption and will start it from Sindh where we will go on April 26 and subsequently reach Lahore next Sunday,”

He further said “If you [PM Nawaz] didn’t form a fair judicial commission in consultation with the opposition parties we will come out on roads and will march towards Raiwind.”

Talking about the PTI Imran Khan said, “It had been 20 years since the PTI was founded, but I feel the party has just started. Although my struggle has been spread over two decades but I am ready to spend another 20 years and thank the people for appreciating me and my struggle.”

Imran Khan emphasized the rights of minorities in Pakistan and asked his supporters to take a pledge to protect minorities in Pakistan. “We have to give rights to women; we have to make minorities the VIPs; we have to set an example when it comes to safeguarding the rights of minorities.”

About the murder of Dr. Soran Singh he said it had hurt him deeply. Khan revealed that Soran’s wife and children wanted to leave Pakistan for India however he stayed back while his family left such was his dedication for Pakistan.

About the 2013 election rigging Imran said he wanted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to open investigation into four constituencies but the PM did not pay any heed; and later on our sit-in protest the PM Nawaz Shariff pretended to be innocent as if we were oppressing him.

Criticizing PML-N led federal government over mega development projects Imran Khan said children in Pakistan die of malnutrition while the prime minister announces Orange Line Train.

Imran Khan said, “Panama Papers named you (the PM) and your offspring but you stayed safe. LDA plots scandal, and your taking money from ISI; Mehran Bank scandal and Hudebia Papers Mills scandals were covered up and the PM remained safe.

Imran Khan accused the premier of launching a smear campaign against Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) as response to the accusations of acquiring illegal money as shown by Panama Papers against the Sharif family; he said “The hospital is working for the welfare for many people, was being criticized by the PM alleging it has been involved in corruption.”

He challenged the PM to start a probe over allegation of SKMH. Saying it will only raise the esteem of the SKMCH and people will know how much had been spent on the people welfare by the hospital.

Earlier on Saturday, the cricketer-turned-politician had said that the judicial commission formed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to probe the Panama Papers was ‘an eyewash,” and the opposition was not taken into confidence on the terms of references (ToRs).

It is almost after three weeks of the leaks showing that the prime minister’s three children were among dozens of influential people from across the globe having offshore companies in tax havens, that government has written to the Supreme Court registrar, asking the Chief Justice of Pakistan to form an inquiry commission having very broad-based terms of references.

The Panama Papers have shown a massive leak of 11.5 million exposing secret offshore dealings of world leaders and celebrities. Among those whose name is in the list are the PM Nawaz’s three children Maryam, Hasan and Hussain and records show they owned London real estate through offshore companies.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) dismissed Imran’s threat of fresh protests, saying that the 2014 demonstrations against 2013 electoral rigging had damaged the PTI chief’s credibility after election tribunals ruled that the parliamentary poll was largely free and fair.
