ORAKZAI AGENCY - At least five militants were killed and three others injured in a gun battle between volunteers of a peace militia and militants in Lower Orakzai Agency in the wee hours of Saturday.
As per details, a group of militants stated to be affiliated with TTP attacked Dana Khola village with sophisticated weapons at around 4 am on Saturday. The Sipah tribesmen aided by volunteers of peace militia retaliated vigorously.
The gun battle lasted for more than four hours and heavy weapons were used against each other. At least five militants were killed while three others sustained injuries in the fierce fighting.
Dana Khola village, situated in Lower Orakzai Agency at the edge of Khyber Agency, has earlier been used by militants as a gateway to enter downtowns. To block entry of the militants, armed men of local militia have been deputed at the village, officials sources said. They said that due to the presence of the volunteers of peace militia, the movement of militants has been restricted completely. They said as the clashes started, which continued for more than four hours, security forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the area to control the situation. Clashes and fighting take place time and again between militants and armed men of peace volunteers and dozens of people have so far been killed and many more have sustained injuries in these incidents in Orakzai Agency.
