ISLAMABAD  - In wake of current political situation former dictator General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf is mulling to bring his ailing mother to Pakistan, as she is better now.
Musharraf has also directed his followers to show their presence in political scene in the current scenario, The Nation has learnt.
A close aide of the former president informed this scribe on Saturday that Musharraf wanted to stay in Pakistan and he has put aside the option of going abroad even if he is allowed to fly. He pointed out that the present political situation provided an opportunity to Musharraf to live in the country and try to make inroads in PAT. That is why Musharraf's party distributed breakfast among the PAT marchers, he added.
He mentioned even if Musharraf goes abroad, his stay there would be short-lived. He said Musharraf discussed the recent political situation of the country in last meeting and he was excited to play his role to revive his party. Musharraf contacted with a few of his old political assistants and invited them for a meeting, the sources added.
Musharraf landed in Pakistan on April 18, 2013 after spending five years in self-imposed exile and has been facing cases, including a high treason case, since then.
On the directions of Musharraf, APML delegation headed by Rashid Qureshi on Saturday morning reached Pakistan Awami Tehreek's sit-in at Constitution Avenue and distributed more than 20,000 breakfast packets among the marchers. APML leader Rashid Qureshi said on the occasion that APML supports PAT Qauid Dr Tahir Ul Qadri's charter of demands. Qureshi said that Qadri's charter of demands is constructional and the government should consider it. He said every political party has constructional and democratic right to stage a peaceful sit-in and organise long march.
The PAT workers were thankful to Musharraf for providing them breakfast on a pleasant morning.
The PAT marchers said they spent whole night in heavy rain but fresh and tasty breakfast made their morning enjoyable.
The APML sources informed The Nation that Musharraf paid the bill of breakfast from his pocket and he wanted to serve food among marchers again. Musharraf advised his party leadership and handful workers to participate in PAT sit-in and support Qadri's demands, sources added.
