PPP finalises arrangements to observe BB death anniversary


LAKKI MARWAT - The district chapter of Pakistan People’s Party held a meeting in Serai Naurang Town on Sunday to finalise arrangements with regard to attend the death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in Larkana on December 27.
District president advocate Iqbal Hussain chaired the meeting while office bearers of district and tehsil cabinets were in the attendance.  Mr Iqbal Hussain said at the meeting that PPP activists from the district would set out for Larkana on Dec 26 to ensure their participation in death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
“Besides functions will be arranged at local level to pay tributes to the martyred leader”, he told.
The meeting also condemned the suicide attack in Peshawar the previous day that killed senior provincial minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour and others. The PPP leaders said that terrorists could not shatter the determination of government, politicians, law enforcement agencies and people by carrying out such coward acts.
They said that Bashir Bilour was a seasoned politician and a peace campaigner. “His assassination is a great loss for nation especially Pakhtuns”, they maintained.
Meanwhile, ANP Lakki Marwat, in its meeting at Naurang town, condemned the killing of senior provincial minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour in a suicide blast in Peshawar. District senior vice president Mamraiz Khan presided over the meeting.
The ANP leaders said that Bashir Bilour was targeted by militants because of his bravery and consoling militancy hit people of the province. They held Qurankhani and special prayers for Bilour and other deceased and demanded of the government to take all possible measures for the security of ANP leaders, lawmakers and ministers. They also demanded of the govt to bring perpetrators of the suicide attack to justice and take more stringent measures to eliminate militancy.
Meanwhile, the local officials of Pesco have failed to eliminate the menace of electricity stealth and improve recoveries from power defaulters, said a local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Ahmad Nawaz on Saturday.
Talking to reporters at his residence, he alleged that power theft was on rise in the district especially in rural localities with connivance of local employees of power supply company. He said that local quarters concerned of Pesco were not serious to curb the menace and improve power supply system.
“Instead of launching stern action against electricity stealers the authorities have put the urban and rural localities under the severe grip of load shedding to conceal their failure and incapability”, he maintained.
The PTI leader told that to bear the brunt of prolong power outages had become intolerable for local people. He said that despite paying electricity bills on time and regularly the residents of Lakki City had been subjected to face long power breakdowns since last several weeks.
He said that Pesco’s higher authorities should form special teams to eliminate the practice of using electricity facility through notorious kunda (hook) system. He also demanded of higher authorities to direct local quarters concerned to stop unscheduled and unfair load shedding in Lakki city forthwith.
