Ex-MNA quits PTI, joins N

MULTAN - Former MNA Sheikh Tahir Rasheed joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference, Tahir Rasheed lashed out at Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, saying that he (Hashmi) stabbed in the back of the party. He alleged that though Hashmi stood by PTI, he was campaigning for Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son for NA-148 by-election.
“Today I announce that I have returned to my home. But I tell you that I was forced to quit the party. Hashmi destroyed the party,” he added.
In November, Tahir Rasheed joined PTI. Though, Imran Khan’s ‘tsunami’ swept away political stalwarts such as Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi and Sardar Asif Ahmad Ali in its first wave, the PML-N has now succeeded in saving the political land.
The former MNA made this announcement in the presence of Hamza Shahbaz, who is in Multan as part of electioneering for bypolls to be held in the constituencies of NA-148 and 149 on Saturday. Tahir Rasheed’s brother Tariq Rasheed is also vying for NA-149 on PML-N ticket.
