MANDI BAHAUDDIN - The annual bull race competition took place in suburban village Kantrali situated in administrative jurisdiction of Jhelum. Former Punjab governor and PTI leader Ch Sarwar was the chief guest on the occasion. There were many pairs of bulls that took part in the race. People from Mandi Bahauddin and Jhelum districts attended the event. About two hundred families had come from European countries including the UK to witness this amazing function.
First position was won by bull pair of Ch Akbar Badshah while bull pair of Ch Ghulam Abbas bagged the second position. Mian Masood’s pair of bulls came third.
At the end of the event the chief guest distributed prizes and trophies to the owners of bull pairs winning positions.
Ch Ghulam Abbas while talking to the media said that people from all over North Punjab brought their bulls to participate in the competition. He said that this was our culture and during the event spectators got over excited with joy and showers Rs bills on the bull pairs when running. Drum beaters beat their drums and this enhances the charm of competition. He said this event was known as Ch Rehmat (deceased) ‘Akhara’ and it had been held for the last sixty years.
