Multan
The district administration has imposed ban on buying or selling land and renting out property to the residents of other districts or provinces in view of prevailing law and order situation here.
An order issued by the office of DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal said that the property owners or dealers would have to give details of to-be-tenants to the concerned departments and security agencies before giving them property on rent. The district administration also issued order to the excise department to bring all property dealers into a net and carry out their registration. “The offices of all those property dealers, who fail to get themselves register till January 31, will be sealed,” said the order.
The security agencies fear that guest houses, dairy farms and other rented buildings can be used for terrorism. Therefore the monitoring of all such buildings and properties has been increased by the security agencies. Keeping in view the situation after Peshawar incident, the property dealers have been asked to submit tenancy agreement along with the contact number and picture of the owners of the property with the concerned police station.
Meanwhile, addressing a seminar organized by the district government to create awareness on terrorism, the DCO said that all citizens needed to play their role for uprooting terrorism from the society. He added that national economy could not afford lawlessness and bloodshed in the country any more. “We’ll have to adopt all out measures for the protection of our children. We’re face with a coward enemy that can cross any limit,” he warned.
He added that the nation would not forgive anyone killing others in the name of religion. He told the participants that the Punjab Government had introduced a hot line number (1717) and the citizens could pass on information about terrorists, suspicious persons or activities to the authorities by dialling it. He declared that the government had chalked out a line of action to crush terrorists and their facilitators and police teams would go door to door to carry out screening.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Operations Ch Muhammad Saleem said that all security agencies were put on red alert in view of law and order situation while the security arrangements for sensitive places and educational institutions had also been finalized. He said that police and other law enforcing agencies could not perform well without public’s cooperation.
