Ex-Mr Pakistan insecure

Former Mr Pakistan and ex-world No 7 bodybuilder Amir Rahim has been receiving life threats from unknown persons and last night, he was stopped and attacked in Karachi.
Talking exclusively to The Nation on Saturday, Amir said: “Some mysterious people have been calling me and threatening me of dire consequences if I would not pay them Rs 5 million. I contacted police and informed them about the entire situation, but nothing was done so far to provide me protection.”
Amir said last night when he was coming from gym, some unknown motorcyclists stopped him and demanded Rs 5 million and if not provided, they threatened him to be killed. “I told them I have not enough money to run day today affairs, how can I pay such a hefty amount. They took away all my belongings and said arrange the sum or be ready for death,” the ex-Mr Pakistan said.
“I have lodged a complaint with police station Aziz Bhatti and it is my humble request to Chief Minister and Governor Sindh to provide me protection and trace out the culprits, who have malicious designs against me. I serve the country and won laurels not only at national but also at international level as I am a former Mr Pakistan and also attained the world No 7 ranking in bodybuilding heavy category,” he added.
“I have been earning bread and butter for my family by running a gym and how can people expect I have such a hefty amount of money. I am grateful to my friends and well-wishers who have arranged funds for my visit to Florida, Miami where I will represent Pakistan in Mr Universe competition from June 28 to 29 and then I will also go to Italy to participate in Mr Universe on July 6 and 7. I have been working hard day and night to win laurels for the country, but on the other hand, some miscreants have been creating unwanted hurdles in my way and don’t want me to participate in the international events and bring laurels to the country,” Amir added. –Mohsin Ali
