Anti-gas cuts demo turns into scuffle with traders, passers-by

Highly irked on gas loadshedding after prolonged power outages, the residents of Vehari Chowk and adjoining areas lost their temper on Tuesday as they staged a demonstration and thrashed one another besides passers-by and traders here at Vehari Chowk.
Dozens of local residents assembled up at the Chowk and staged a sit-in. The protesters shouted slogans against government and Sui Gas officials. They blocked the road for all kind of traffic. The protesters and local traders scuffled with one another on the issue of blocking road. They thrashed one another with rods, clubs and punches.
POWER PILFERERS HELD: A surveillance team of Multan Electric Power Company caught nine power pilferers red handed in Shamasabad and Hassanabad areas and imposed fine worth Rs250,000 on them. The team conducted surprise raids under the leadership of Deputy Manager Surveillance Abdul Jabbar and caught five consumers including Mushtaq, Munawar, Shahida, Islam and Tariq in Hassanabad subdivision and Allah Bakhsh.
