JI chief pleads for uniform education curriculum

SWABI - Jamaat-i-Islami Chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that if he gets an opportunity to rule the country he will introduce one curriculum from nursery to matric level in both public and private sector schools across the country.
He was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of All Pakistan TechFest which was organised by Society of Mechanical Engineering Pakistan (SMEP), students’ chapter of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology here on Monday. The academia and students from various engineering universities participated in the three-day event.
Siraj said that after matriculation each student would be allowed to go to the field of his/her choice as to deliver according to the requirements of the country and his/her wishes. The students study in the religious institutions would also be brought into the mainstream of contemporary education, he said.
He said that quality education could steer the country out from the prevailing crises and it is the education which could keep our nation united and strong. “My greatest desire is that education should get the major share of the budget afar defense,” he said. He said that the educated youth could work as true guardians of Pakistan’s ideology.
He told the students: “You are getting quality education in a university (GIK Institute) for which the entire nation is proud of it. The genius youth of the country study here in different disciplines of engineering, getting modern knowledge from the world-class faculty.” In his remarks, Jehangir Bashar, Rector GIK Institute, said that he had worked with Sirajul Haq when he was provincial finance minister during the MMA government.  The JI chief gave away shields and certificate to the teams who showed outstanding performance at the three-day TechFest.
