Pakistan Day celebrated across KP, Fata with national zeal

PESHAWAR - Like other parts of the country, Pakistan Day was celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata with national zeal and fervor while renewing the commitment to render any kind of sacrifices for the cause of the motherland.  
Different political parties, traders and religious groups held meetings, processions, seminars and rallies in the provincial metropolis to celebrate the day.
Workers of Jamaat-ud-Dawa took out a procession on motorcycles and passed through different bazaars. Later, they held a rally outside the Peshawar Press Club. The Pakistan Day commemorates March 23, 1940, when the Muslim League demanded a separate state for the Muslims of the Sub-Continent.
The day dawned with a 21-gun salute in the provincial capital while stringent security steps were made on the eve of national day in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal region.
Scores of activists of proscribed Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuDs) took out the rally from Haji camp and passing through different bazars, reached near cantonment Railway Station.
The rally was led by JuDs leaders Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Haji Muhammad Omar, Ghazi Inamullah and Sadaqat Hussain spoke on the occasion. The participants were holding flags, banners, and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of Islam and Pakistan.
Similarly, the workers of Pasban also held a rally from Ghanta Ghar to sadder Peshawar. Led by provincial leaders of the party including Chandi Wala, and Azam Minhas, and others, the participants viewed that it was a day of commitment that no one would be allowed to harm the country and they would take a unified stand for restoration of peace.
The speakers viewed that a conspiracy is being hatched to make Pakistan a secular state.
They said that unity and solidarity were indispensable to completely eradicate terrorism and bring normalcy in the country.
Religious parties like Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam of different factions, traders, and non-governmental organizations also held functions and rallies on this special day.
Workers of Nazria-e-Pakistan also staged a rally in the provincial capital. The participants were holding placards and banners inscribed with various slogans.
In Fata, Pakistan Day was also celebrated with great zeal across Bajaur Agency to mark the passage of Pakistan Resolution. Local administrations and various political and social organizations held functions to mark the day. The main function was organized by the Pakistan Army at Khar. The Pakistan Army soldiers laid floral wreaths at the Army Shuhada memorial.
According to details, the soldiers at the army base in Landi Kotal also laid floral wreaths at the Pakistan Army Shuhada graves and prayed for the martyrs.
Students of the army school Landi Kotal were also present on the occasion. As many as 88 army soldiers have embraced martyrdom so far in war against terror in Waziristan and Khyber Agencies.
Besides Col Kamal Mazari as a chief guest, a large number of local tribal, forces officials and students were present at the event.
Different political and religious organizations also held rallies functions, walks and processions in Saidu Sharif, Swat. On the occasion, students of different government and private schools in their speeches highlighted the historical background of Pakistan Day while some students presented national songs.
Different functions were held at Maidan, Munda, Timergara, Talash and Chakdara in Timergara, wherein students presented speeches, tableaus and sang patriotic songs to mark the Pakistan Day with national zeal.
