Peace, harmony top priority, says Khosa

FAISALABAD - Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that all-out resources will be utilized for maintenance of the law and order and religious harmony in the province during the holy month of Muharramul Harram. He said that a comprehensive administrative and security strategy had been devised to ensure peace and tranquillity in the province. He was presiding over a high-level meeting held here at Circuit House to review the arrangements for Muharram in the four districts of Faisalabad Division on Wednesday. Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and other members of cabinet committee on Muharram arrangements including Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Home Secretary Shahid Khan and IGP Javed Iqbal were also present on the occasion. Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain and RPO Aftab Cheema briefed the meeting regarding the security and administrative plan for Muharram. The Senior Advisor, while reviewing the detail of the arrangements, emphasised the officers concerned to adopt scientific and modern security resources and implement the plan in letter and spirit. He urged that the elected representatives should also be taken onboard to achieve the desire results and ensure security during Muharram. All kinds of obstacles should be removed without any delay for the protection of Muharram processions and majalis, he maintained. Expressing his satisfaction over the security arrangements, Khosa said that transforming of the traditional arrangements into advance skills was a good step on the part of the administration for ensuring protection of people and their property through scientific mechanism. Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab Law Minister said that effective monitoring system would also be kept active to supervise the implementation on Muharram arrangements in the province. He advised the District and Divisional officers to keep close liaison with the Provincial Control Room and to ensure timely monitoring of any issues at anywhere. The Chief Secretary informed the participants that the public security during Muharram was an important task for the government and expressed his confidence to accomplish the task with coordinated efforts. He emphasized the need for seeking the public representative cooperation for achieving the desire results. The IGP informed the meeting that all possible measures had been taken to augment security arrangements across the province during the holy month. On the occasion, the elected representatives presented their suggestions for maintenance law and order and discouraging nefarious designs of the miscreants. The Divisional Commissioner and RPO briefed the meeting and said the peace committees from division to police station level had been made active besides banning the publication of objectionable material and fire brand speakers. They informed that joint visits had also been conducted for the clearance of Muharram processions routs and sites of majalis. They also provided details of sectarian scenario in the division and deployment of police force accordingly. MPAs including Kh Muhammad Islam, Muhammad Nawaz Malik, Raza Nasrullah Gumman, Ch Shafique Gujjar, Mehr Sultan Sikandar Barwana, Mian Muhammad Rafiq, Al-Haj Sh Muhammad Iqbal, Rao Kashif Rahim, Maulana Ilyas Chinioti, Shahid Khalil Noor, Nazia Raheel, Bilal Asghar Warriach, Juaul Ahmad Suhatra and others were attended the meeting.
