The Punjab government has decided the establishment of new hospitals at the four corners of the city to share burden of the Allied Hospital, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Monday.
Talking to the media at the inaugural ceremony of 60 bed paediatric nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Allied Hospital, he said that the largest children hospital of Asia is being completed in Faisalabad in which outdoor and emergency facilities have been made functional. He said that the tehsil headquarters hospitals and BHUs have also been upgraded with huge funds for providing best medical facilities to people.
Under this policy, 250 bed Govt General Hospital has been established at Ghulam Muhammabad area and 50 beds Govt General Hospital Samanabad is being expanded upto 250 beds while 250 bed General Hospital is being established at Haseeb Shaheed Colony.
Responding a question, the Law Minister said that the Punjab government has established four new Medical Colleges and vacancies of the doctors are being filled shortly and new posts of doctors and paramedical staff would be advertised for which necessary approval has been made.
The Punjab Law Minster said that the Punjab government is committed to providing modern medical facilities to the patients in public hospitals and billions of rupees are being spent on most advanced medical machinery/equipment in the public hospitals.
The Law Minister took a round of the NICU and appreciated the efforts of Allied Hospital management for the establishment of the unit for best care of newly-born babies in case of any disease or premature delivery.
The NICU has been completed at a cost of Rs50 million with the financial support of local philanthropists. The most advanced medical treatment facilities would be provided to the new born from the state-of-art NICU which has been equipped with modern ventilators, incubators and other medical equipment and machinery. Allied Hospital Chairperson Board of Management MPA Begum Najma Afzal, local industrialist and philanthropist Seth Iftikhar Ahmad and other members were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Punjab Medical College Principal Dr Sardar Muhammad Alfareed Zafar said that the unit has been completed in short span of one year with the donations of different local philanthropists. He said that NICU comprised of children nursery, ventilator section, emergency reception and treatment portion, feeding portion, waiting areas for the mothers, kitchen and wash rooms.
