Security plan for LB polls reviewed

The district police officer and directed all SDPOs of district to maintain law and order situation for the protection of life and property of the people during the third phase of local bodies elections across the district.
He has also directed all the candidates taking part in the election on the seats of chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors to submit their arms at their respective police stations otherwise the license of those candidates not depositing weapons till the local bodies elections will be cancelled. He said that there will be a ban on carrying and displaying of firearms under Section 144 throughout the district till December 12, 2015 and the ban will also be applicable to the licensed weapons. No candidate can take out procession or rally for celebrating victory. There will also be a ban on aerial firing and gathering of five or more persons on polling day near polling station within the limit of 300 meters.
He ordered all the SDPOs to ensure adherence to the ban on display of arms and to ensure strict implementation of the plan to ensure law and order across the district.
He said that police officers will be responsible for ensuring peaceful atmosphere in local body election and practical steps taken for this purpose should be visible.
