Traders protest excessive billing

Our Staff reporter NANKANA SAHIB - The over billing by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has become a routine, which amounts to penalising majority of the consumers who avoid hassle of going to sub-divisional office concerned for rectifying their bills. The Markazi Anjuman Tajran has protest against the over billing by the Lesco, demanded an end to electricity theft. They said that strict action must be taken against the Lesco employees who involved in electricity stealing. As per detail, a delegation of traders representative including Markazi Anjuman Tajran General Secretary Shahid Mahmood, Vice President Rana Muhammad Tariq, Ch Arif Rustom, Cloth Anuman President Ch Khalid Mahmood Billa and Ch Irfan Mahmood met the Lesco XEN in his office here the other day. They complained about performance and negligence of the meter readers and other Lesco staff concerned for over billing and involvement in stealing electricity in the city and its outskirts. Lesco XEN M Jameel Dogar ordered setting up separate complaint desk in the Tang Bazaar for the submission and correction of excess units of electricity in the bill of traders and general public under the supervision of traders of Anjuman Tajran. More than 150 over charging bills were submitted to market desk by the traders and common people who have already been submitted to Lesco office for correction and reduction accordingly. On the occasion, Traders leader Malik Ijaz alias Jimy said that over billing had been an additional headache besides the six to eight hours scheduled and unscheduled loadshedding in different localities of the city.
