Flight Lt Umer Shahzad killed in PAF plane crash

PAF plane has crashed in area of Jamrood, killing Flight Lt Umer Shahzad in the accident, reported Waqt News.

Earlier it was said that an unknown aircraft had crashed in Khyber agency. It was suspected that the crashed aircraft was being used to spy on Pakistani military activities in the region however now it has been confirmed that it was a routine monitoring flight by PAF plane in the area.

This comes at a time when Pak army is engaged with the Russian army in a joint military drill in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while tensions with neighbouring India over the Kashmir dispute are on the rise.

The drill between Russia and Pakistan is an attempt to “broaden defence and military-technical cooperation,” while India has reportedly moved its infantry as well as artillery along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir with Pakistan conducting high level take off and landing exercises on motorways.

Both Indian and Pakistani military officials however, have declared that the measures taken are merely to ensure security.
